Overview of Research Program

 

The Wu lab focuses on developing innovative synthetic approaches to natural products of bio-medicinal significance.  From strategy formulation, through execution, to obtaining the target compound, we aim for both efficiency and practicality in such ways molecules are made.  Application of catalysis, photochemical reactions, and cascade sequences are central to our synthesis design.  New chemical reactions will be "invented" to solve challenges encountered during our research endeavor.  Beyond exercise in the fields of total synthesis and methodology development, we seek to apply our synthetic expertise to address interdisciplinary scientific questions.  Overall, our research program would provide excellent training, in the synthetic chemistry discipline, for co-workers interested in a research career in the pharmaceutical industry or academia.
